it’s time to say good bye…

This semester has been long and I am glad it is finally coming to an end. Specially this subject was filled with lots of interaction and collaboration with the material and colleagues. I have to submit my assignment three and that is my last assignment for my BECH. This semester has been challenging because I have been juggling with fulltime work, two kids and 4 subjects. it was full on with everything and Im glad that all this has come to an end. This course has allowed me to learn a lot about technology and the resources that is available to use as teachers for students. Like other bloggers, my PLN is growing! I have a lot more websites which can assist me with my lesson planning now.

So I guess this is good-bye for now and good luck to all those still going with the assignment three and semester exams!!!!

Planning for the new generation certainly requires ICT!

Hi All,

I have learned through my Professional experience that Planning for the new generation certainly requires ICT!

This picture explains it all. :)

After the trauma of birth and learning how to walk and talk, children will start to ask the big question “why?”. Their hunger for information and knowledge has no boundaries, and there is a good reason for that: they need to feel safe in this new and dangerously unexplained world.

One of my activities in my lesson was taking the for a excursion to a old school site. So I decided to integrate ICT into this event and connect it to my theme. What I thought was, Why not we let them explore with digital cameras. So that we can review those pictures and have some collaborative sessions later on.  After the excursion they did presentations on power point.

the below page shows the  Powerpoint in Education.

The end of the my Prac

Well I have come to the end of my prac and finished it last Monday. Its Saturday today and I ‘ve missed the kids that was with me through out my prac. Just like Tracy said, Its very hard to say goodbye and I miss them already.
My mentor said that I am always welcome to visit them or to come and help her out when ever I can. That was a relief because I was afraid that I wont be able to see them again. The staff was wonderful in the school and even the principal was a very friendly person. Im gonna miss them all and specially Mr Taylor who showed me how to play Rounders.
This Prac was the best prac ever and I was able to try out so many IT stuff which I love.

Touching story

Being a Teacher is magical because you have the power to make it or break it in a child’s life. I never felt how important it is to be a teacher until I met locky in my school. he is a little boy with a cute smile who wears dirty uniform and doesnt have anything for the recess. As a pre service teacher I have been close to him. First week I thought he was a careless child and he couldn’t do any addition or subtraction. Being in grade 3/4 class made it more harder for him and the class teacher didn’t have time to give any special attention to him.
I wanted to know who he was so I asked to see his file in the classroom and the teacher explained his situation to me. His mom is in the prison and his dad is a druggy. Locky has got elder siblings and he is been cared by one of his elder siblings(15years) under the dads care.

I worked with him and I’m happy to say that he cando additions and simple subtractions now. He has done lots of activities on Mathletics with me and he is loving it. Locky will not forget to say bye to me every day before he goes home and that smile on his face is so genuine. I love this little boy so much and feel very guilty to finish my professional experience from his class. I’m already attending a extra week in to the school but I dont know how to say good bye to him. It breaks my heart…:(

Leesa's Blog

As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In addition, Teddy could be unpleasant.

It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X’s and then putting a big “F” at the top of his papers.

At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child’s…

Im Blogging again….

eventhough Im still on my P.E im relieved that I have finished my all other assignments other than EDC3100.   The three weeks taken up with Professional Experience  was so busy and I couldnt even write a single blog. As Stella says in her Re- blog post. Professional experience is finish and its time to get back blogging.  While I was doing my Edx2190 course I came across this great site which explained the teaching strategies for History.

i used it alot on my assignment and wanted to pass the resource to you guys. Hope it will help you.

Bullying on the internet.

Hi guys,

today my heart broke by looking at a video which shows how cruel bullying can be and specially using the social media tools available on the internet. I can relate to this lady who is very upset over this bullying incident. the video is posted on my blog so all of you out there will understand that bullying is sometimes fatal and we pass this to our generations by modelling this type of bullying behavior in front of our children.

According to Skinner (n.d, as cited in Ozman, 2008), human behavior is controlled by environmental influence. The child is affected by the way he is raised. The environment of the child has more impact on education. If the child is brought up in a conducive environment, he/she will inculcate good human values. So as parents, guardians or just being people around these precious children it is our responsibility to model a good , kind behavior on others to make sure that we wont see a worse generation in the future.

My  fellow student Rebecca has mentioned in her blog “What age is appropriate to buy your child an IPad?” that children young as 2 years can be in the appropriate age group to handle a Ipad but she stress on the parent supervision. well looking at how ICT has effected our lives, from such a young age on wards we are getting use to use electronic devices that connected to the social media. it is our responsibility to keep this wonderful source of knowledge for our children purely harmless.

executing my lesson plans…

I am planning to execute my own lesson plans tomorrow in my professional experience and bit concerned and excited. I remember the picture that was uploaded on kathleens blog about Keep calm and pretend it’s on the lesson plan. To make things hard my mentor is not  using the Australian national Curriculum. She wants me to us e the AusVELS curriculum for the lesson plans and for all plannings and teaching. So Im bit stressed and concerned but pretty sure I’ll be able to pull it through.

Dont forget … remember that……

PE Second day and learned many new things already…..

Hi people….

Today was the second day  and I feel great to be in Professional Experience. we learn a lot through shadowing the mentor and seeng the resources they use to integrate ICT. Today I teached an explicit teaching episode today which was a literacy lesson with ICT integrated using freemind software. We first did brainstorming on the words from our Jets gym visit. their were 4 groups / adverb, verb, noun & adjective. children had to give examples for these groups and afterwards we used free mind and made a mind map using nodes and child nodes. It was great to know these resources. I have included a video on introducing freemind. Check it out.

First day in school for professional Experience

Wow…. today was amazing.  I was bit nervous in the morning but when I met my mentor she was great. My colleague Tracey has gone through the same experience, in her blog she describes it.   The students in my classroom were friendly and my mentor explained to me about the students behaviors. We had maths and history blocks in the morning and went on an excursion to the local Gym for their annual gym classes.

It was great because that was the first time I went on a excursion with primary school children and I learned alot. my mentor explained how we do excursions and what should be done before getting in t the bus. I had a great day today and hope it will be more interesting tomorrow.

P.S: I have added a video on the teacher observation just for your information.

Ok,.. wish you guys all the best for your Professional Experience.

Bye Ajani.
